Fundraiser for Blake

The Winner

Well done Neil, proud owner of our 6'4" Striper quad fish, donated by Tree to Sea. Neil's bid was the highest and helped raise funds for little Blake at tonight's Blake's Fight Club fundraiser. Thanks to everyone for their generosity, special thanks to our friends at Seven T Surf for donating the awesome custom board cover for Neil's little fish. Best wishes to Blake and family, go tiger!

This is the latest member to the Splinter family. We currently make the 9'1" Mal, the 7'6" Mini Mal and now the Little Mal at 6'6". It can be made with one 8" centre fin and two side fins, as a Quad fin or a thruster. Dimension are 6'6" x 21 1/2"  x 2 9/16".

1 Day Shaping Workshops

After years of holding 3 Day Workshops, we are introducing
1 Day Shaping Workshops.
You start with a pre made Blank, made by us, then we teach you have to shape and create your very own Wooden Surfboard. Similar to the way a conventional surfboard is made, but it's not fibreglassed when finished.
These are aimed at the person who does not have time to come to a 3 Day Building and Shaping Workshop, but still wants to make themselves a Wooden Surfboard.

Check out the website for dates.

Bumper 2 Bumper

An Interview with Rusty

We received an email a few weeks ago from Rusty, he has a Car Show on Channel 31 here in Melbourne called Bumper 2 Bumper. He travels the country side interviewing car enthusiasts about their passion for their cars.

He is restoring a 70's Holden Sandman Panel Van as a show car and wanted a 70's Retro Surfboard to display with his car.
So we set about making him a 6'1" Retro Single Fin.
The show will go to air in July.

Rodney Wins Silver in Games

Rodney Gets Silver Medal on Wooden Retro Pig

Rodney attended one of our Workshops and built a Retro Pig. He sent us this email after his win.

You may be pleased to hear that I received a Silver Medal in the 50-59 Longboard competition for team VicSES at the Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games on my woody.  Go Retro Pig.

The surfing competition was held at Surfies Point, Phillip Island where everyone enjoyed 3 days of spirited competition.  It was great to surf with new faces and old friends with visitors from NSW, ACT and NZ clashing with the Vico's.
Conditions were pretty good with the local Phillip Island Surfriders Club running the event and doing the judging.  The finals however on the last day had to contend with a 2 metre swell and 40 knot onshore winds.

Regards
Rodney Hose (2014 SES Surfing Champion)

Well Done Rodney
